Azores. Strike in SATA handling causes delays and cancellations

The strike at SATA's baggage handling service has led to significant delays and cancellations at Azorean airports. Union leader Vítor Mendes noted visible effects of the strike, predicting worsening disruptions throughout the day. The protest opposes the regional government's plan for full privatization of handling services, which the union argues is detrimental to the local population and territorial cohesion. The partial strike will continue until November 3, with daily three-hour stoppages, initially in the morning and later in the afternoon, causing ongoing air transport issues in the autonomous region.
