Lawyer judged for falsifying driving licenses

A lawyer is set to stand trial in Leiria for 33 counts of document forgery, allegedly aiding drivers caught with alcohol to falsify lost driving licenses. The lawyer, along with 27 co-defendants, is accused of submitting false claims of lost licenses to evade driving bans. The prosecution claims this scheme has been ongoing since 2017, allowing clients to possess multiple valid licenses. The lawyer reportedly profited approximately €9,900 from this operation. He has a history of disciplinary issues and previous convictions for similar offenses. The trial is scheduled to begin on Wednesday at the Leiria Judicial Court.
