Aphrodite gives Poland more gas and oil. Orlen confirmed the discovery in the North Sea

Wiesław Prugar from Orlen highlighted the potential of the Afrodyta gas field, which has seen renewed interest due to advancements in upstream technology. Initial drilling data from nearly 20 years ago were inconclusive regarding its profitability. Recent analyses have significantly increased the estimated recoverable resources, suggesting Afrodyta could surpass the Omega Alfa field. Orlen acquired a 25% stake in Afrodyta in February 2026, with new estimates indicating recoverable resources between 77-180 million barrels of oil equivalent. The company is considering connecting Afrodyta to existing infrastructure to reduce costs and expedite production. Orlen also holds other unconventional fields in Norway, emphasizing the importance of these resources for stable oil and gas production.
