Airbnb: a complete ban may come in the Buda Castle

The local government of Budavár is considering stricter regulations on short-term rentals, potentially banning them entirely in the Buda Castle area. A recent survey showed that 58.6% of residents support a complete ban, with 66% in the Buda Castle area. The proposed regulations would end short-term rentals in the area by January 1, 2028, and require existing rentals in other parts of the district to have consent from their condominium associations. A one-year transition period is planned for current rental operators to adapt. The regulations aim to protect the residential function and tranquility of the Buda Castle area, with significant fines for violations.
