Airbnb changes the rules. End of the unpleasant obligation for accommodation hosts

Airbnb is implementing new rules to reduce cleaning responsibilities for guests starting November 20, 2026. Hosts cannot require guests to perform tasks like washing dishes or taking out trash. However, guests are still expected to leave the property in reasonable condition. Hosts must clearly outline rules before bookings and cannot add new requirements post-confirmation. Airbnb will standardize policies on various issues, including pets and noise. Some hosts oppose these changes, fearing increased cleaning burdens for staff. Cleaning fees can still be charged, but additional fees for unmet checkout tasks are prohibited.
