Bomb threats on Ryanair planes. Fighter jet escort was necessary
Italian media reported that Fiumicino Airport received an anonymous tip about possible explosives on two Ryanair flights. As a result, both flights were escorted by fighter jets until landing, where bomb disposal experts awaited. After landing, authorities checked passengers, luggage, and the aircraft, finding no explosives or threats. Similar incidents disrupted air traffic in other countries, including an emergency landing in Sofia of a flight from Israel due to a bomb threat. Bomb alerts also affected flights to Warsaw, with a London flight redirected to Modlin Airport, and a Copenhagen flight checked upon landing in Chopin Airport, all confirming no threats. The day before, a Wizz Air flight from London to Sofia was diverted to Budapest after a bomb report.
