Algarve may host the prologue of the 2027 Dakar Rally
The Dakar Rally will not take place in Saudi Arabia in 2027, with plans to return in 2028. Portugal and Morocco are potential hosts for the event, with the Algarve possibly hosting the prologue. The change is due to regional conflicts, and details about the route and schedule are yet to be announced. The ASO confirmed the 2027 edition will be held elsewhere, while Saudi Arabia will host the 50th edition in 2028. This could mark the Dakar's return to Portugal after 19 years since the 2008 cancellation.
