Students block Soares dos Reis School in protest

Students from the Soares dos Reis Artistic School in Porto protested against perceived underfunding in education, demanding free materials, the abolition of national exams, and improved facilities. The protest began at 8 AM, gathering hundreds of students who expressed their grievances through chants and signs. Student Isabela Charrua highlighted the financial burden of educational materials, while Vera Sousa emphasized the housing crisis affecting students. The school's administration expressed support for the protest, acknowledging the legitimacy of the students' demands and advocating for dialogue to address issues. The school is one of only two specialized artistic education institutions in Portugal.
