Amadeu Guerra rejects having challenged Parliament to change the law on demonstrations
Amadeu Guerra, the Attorney General of the Republic, clarified that he did not challenge Parliament to amend the law on demonstrations, contrary to media interpretations. He emphasized that legislative changes are solely the responsibility of Parliament and should not be influenced by current events. Guerra stated he does not see grounds for declaring the 1974 law unconstitutional and believes that any legislative reflection should come from Parliament, not at his request. He expressed his opposition to making legislative changes based on specific incidents or current circumstances, advocating for a more mature approach to such matters.
