Amsterdam driver under the influence transported pythons in the center console
Police in Amsterdam discovered two pythons in a driver's storage compartment during a routine check. The 51-year-old driver was under the influence when stopped on the A4. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found the pythons in the center console, along with a box of live mice and a goldfish in a bag. The animals were taken to a rescue center. While keeping pythons is legal in the Netherlands, proper welfare standards must be met, including adequate ventilation, which was lacking in this case. The police frequently encounter exotic animals in the city, including a recent incident involving a dead python found in a trash container.
