Angola admits to having 31 thousand "fictitious" public employees

The Angolan government revealed that over 31,000 public employees are listed as active despite being retired or deceased. Minister Teresa Rodrigues Dias highlighted the financial burden these "ghost" employees impose on the state. The issue was discussed during the launch of the Integrated Human Resources Management System (SINGERH), which aims to modernize public administration. Many of these employees lack identification or proof of employment, raising suspicions of fictitious roles. The government is taking legal and administrative measures to address these cases, ensuring that those with valid status have nothing to fear. Recent efforts have led to a significant increase in updated employee records, from 7% to over 91%.
