Angola admits to having more than 31,000 "fictitious or ghost" public employees
The Angolan government revealed that over 31,000 public employees are listed as active despite being retired or deceased. Minister Teresa Rodrigues Dias highlighted that these fictitious employees impose significant financial burdens on the state. The announcement was made during the launch of the Integrated Human Resources Management System (SINGERH), which aims to modernize public administration. Many of the identified employees lack proper identification or documentation, raising suspicions of ghost employment. The government is taking legal and administrative measures to address these cases, ensuring that legitimate employees have nothing to fear if they can prove their status. Recent efforts have led to a significant increase in updated employee records, from 7% to over 91%.
