Anoma van der Veere new NOS correspondent Southeast Asia

Anoma van der Veere has been appointed as the new Southeast Asia correspondent for NOS, succeeding Mustafa Marghadi. He will expand his role from Japan to include Southeast Asia, relocating from Tokyo to Bangkok. Van der Veere is eager to cover significant regional issues, including the power struggle between China and the U.S., democracy pressures, and climate change impacts. He emphasizes the direct connection between Southeast Asia and the Netherlands through trade and personal ties due to his Thai background. Currently residing in Japan for eight years, he has been with NOS since 2021 and also works as a researcher and lecturer.
