The Antwerp police bid farewell to Billy, Belgium's first dynamic explosives detection dog, who passed away at age 10 due to cancer. He served for nearly seven years, helping to detect explosives in crowded areas. Billy had a close bond with his handler, Saskia, and was not only a colleague but also a beloved companion. After retirement, he enjoyed life at home with Saskia until his passing. The police highlighted the unique relationship between handlers and their dogs, emphasizing trust and companionship. Billy's contributions included working at major events and busy locations, where he operated quietly and effectively. The police currently have two operational explosives dogs remaining.
