APA with unfavorable decision for the photovoltaic plant in Marão
The Portuguese Environment Agency rejected the photovoltaic hybridization project at Penedo Ruivo Wind Farm due to significant negative environmental impacts. Despite potential benefits in renewable energy production, the project was deemed incompatible with conservation values in the area, which includes a Special Conservation Zone. Public consultation revealed overwhelming opposition from citizens, citing threats to protected habitats and local lifestyles. Only a few supported the project, and the evaluation committee highlighted insufficient mitigation measures to address ecological and territorial sensitivities.
