An app labeled a poisonous mushroom as edible. Doctors warn against mushroom picking with AI.
Doctors from Prague's IKEM warn about the dangers of relying on AI for mushroom identification, citing a significant increase in consultations related to mushroom poisoning. The Toxikological Information Center reported a 67% rise in calls this year, with 546 cases handled so far. A patient was hospitalized after consuming a deadly mushroom mistakenly identified as edible by an app. The peak mushroom-picking season in September and October has led to more cases of poisoning, although this year has seen fewer severe cases compared to previous years. Most consultations resulted in mild symptoms, with no serious poisonings reported this season.
