Support of 15 thousand euros for electric vehicles leaves families with few options

The Portuguese government's support for electric vehicle purchases targets families with low incomes, offering up to 15,000 euros. However, only three models fit within this budget, limiting options for eligible families. The program, set to launch next year, will cover 70-90% of vehicle costs and may increase support for trade-ins. Despite a budget for 21,500 vehicles, the limited selection at lower price points raises concerns about accessibility for low-income households. The initiative aims to reduce diesel dependency and promote electric vehicle adoption, with significant funding allocated for both individual and microenterprise purchases.
