Approved protection of underground water withdrawals

The Ministry of Environment has approved the protection perimeter for two groundwater sources in Gavieira, aimed at human consumption. This decision, effective Friday, includes the "Furo F1" and "Furo F2" sources in the Arcos de Valdevez municipality. The groundwater mass is classified as having good global status under the Minho and Lima Hydrographic Region Management Plan. These sources supply water to 19 residents, averaging 1.13 cubic meters per day. The protection perimeters aim to prevent pollution from various sources and enhance natural purification processes. The Portuguese Environment Agency is responsible for assessing risks related to these water sources, following legal regulations.
