What you really need to know about the Lisbon Ripper

In July 1992, the body of a woman was discovered in Póvoa de Santo Adrião, marking the start of a series of brutal murders attributed to a serial killer known as the "Lisbon Ripper." The first victim, Maria Valentina, was a 22-year-old prostitute found with significant injuries and cash in her possession. Subsequent victims, including Maria Fernanda and Maria João, shared similar fates, with the killer evolving in his methods. Despite extensive investigations, the police failed to apprehend the murderer, leading to public panic and the case being archived as one of the greatest failures in Portuguese homicide investigations. A new immersive theater piece titled "A Caça ao Estripador de Lisboa" explores these events, premiering on October 28.
