Our prices are in forints, no credit available
The series by Zsófi Sivák, originally titled "Prices are in Forints," has evolved into "No Credit. No Future," reflecting the decline of community spaces like pubs in rural Hungary. Starting in 2018, Sivák documented functioning pubs in small towns, capturing their cultural significance as social hubs. However, the rise of tobacco shops and changing social habits have led to the closure of many pubs, altering the landscape of social interaction. Sivák's vibrant photographs contrast with the melancholic reality of these spaces, emphasizing the nostalgia for a fading culture. Her work highlights the longing for attention and connection among individuals in these communities, as the world she grew up in slowly disappears.
