Arendonken residents are homebound, in Bonheiden nearly 1 in 5 residents is moving away: "Real estate prices are skyrocketing"
In Arendonk, 66% of residents do not move outside the municipality, making it the most stable community in Antwerp province. Mayor Blockx attributes this to local pride and job opportunities. In contrast, Bonheiden sees nearly 23% of its residents leaving due to soaring property prices. Overall, 89% of homebuyers in Antwerp province already reside there. While Arendonk enjoys a strong community spirit, it faces challenges from high real estate costs. Bonheiden's mayor, Van Looy, highlights the difficulty for young locals to find affordable housing, prompting initiatives for new residential projects to address these issues.
