Sick leave: social partners and the government negotiate under budget constraints for a structural reform
On October 29, unions and employers began negotiations on sick leave, prompted by government requests for a structured reform. The aim is to enhance worker health and business efficiency while achieving targeted savings of 1 billion euros. However, financial goals appear to take precedence. Discussions must conclude by December 19. The initiative addresses a concerning rise in sick leave, which increased by 10% from 2019 to 2025, impacting social security finances.
