Doctors from AZ Oudenaarde and AZ Glorieux in Ronse are urging to resume merger talks that have been stalled since October. The merger, aimed to start on January 1, 2027, is facing delays due to financial uncertainties and care agreements. Medical councils from both hospitals have requested their administrations to restart discussions, emphasizing the necessity of the merger for patient care and hospital accessibility. They argue that without Oudenaarde's hospital, many patients would have to travel to Ghent, which is undesirable. The proposed merged entity would be named Hospital Vlaamse Ardennen.
