As students we never sought power – here’s how we reclaimed Serbia | Novak Simin

Two years ago, Novak Simin was a PhD student in Novi Sad, but after a tragic train station collapse in 2024, he became politically active. Protests against systemic corruption followed, leading to the formation of the Student List, aiming for transparency and accountability in governance. Despite facing intimidation and accusations, the movement gained momentum, culminating in a successful electoral campaign. The newly elected representatives, though politically inexperienced, are committed to restoring integrity in public institutions. Simin emphasizes the need to dismantle the culture of impunity and prioritize the dignity of public servants, marking a significant shift in Serbia's political landscape.
