Asylum center in Schilde costs 540,000 euros in rent per year according to Vlaams Belang: "Take more than initially stated"

The asylum center in Schilde costs significantly more than initially reported, according to the opposition party Vlaams Belang. The center, which opened earlier this year, has an annual rental cost of 540,000 euros, much higher than the previously stated figures of 310,000 and later 400,000 euros. Vlaams Belang is calling for faster asylum procedures, as only 20-25% of residents are expected to be granted asylum. They also want the rental agreement, which runs until 2029, to be terminated. Additionally, the party criticizes the demographic of residents, noting that only 48 out of 178 have vulnerable profiles, contrary to initial claims.
