Popular assembly votes to camp again at Praça D. João I in Porto
A popular assembly in Praça D. João I, Porto, voted to camp again after recent police interventions against housing rights protests. The assembly, attended by around 300 people, decided to set up at least 30 tents. Police had previously dispersed protests in both Lisbon and Porto, resulting in injuries and arrests. The Internal Administration Inspectorate has opened an investigation into the police actions, while left-wing parties criticized the intervention and called for government accountability. Protesters demand changes to housing laws, an end to evictions, and increased public housing.
