User Association promotes honking protest on Friday against tolls on IP3
The Association of Users and Survivors of IP3 is organizing a horn honking protest on Friday near Penacova against the potential tolls on the IP3 road. This action follows statements from Infrastructure Minister Miguel Pinto Luz, who suggested tolls to ensure public investment continuity. The association aims to alert the government and has planned to display banners and distribute flyers at the protest site. They have been opposing tolls since 1989 and are concerned about access difficulties for local residents due to ongoing roadworks. The association demands clarity on the completion of these works and insists on a toll-free four-lane connection between Coimbra and Viseu. Local PSD deputies have assured that existing sections of IP3 will remain toll-free, despite the minister's comments raising concerns.
