They revised the number of steps worth taking in a day
Research from Baylor College of Medicine indicates that walking as few as 5,000 steps daily can enhance cognitive functions. The study involved 3,093 American adults, analyzing their physical activity and cognitive test results over 14 years. Participants were divided into three groups based on their daily step counts: approximately 5,000, 9,000, and 14,000 steps. Those in the higher activity groups performed better in attention-related tasks compared to the least active group. However, the relationship between blood pressure and cognitive performance was less clear. The researchers suggest that improved glucose metabolism and reduced inflammation may explain the link between physical activity and cognitive function, but further studies are needed to explore these connections.
