Average speed was measured for a day on the M6 – Dávid Vitézy shared telling data

On October 13, Magyar Közút conducted a speed check on the M6 highway, revealing alarming results. Over 8,000 vehicles were monitored, with significant numbers exceeding speed limits. More than 17% of cars averaged over 145 km/h, and nearly 6% exceeded 156 km/h. The highest recorded average speed was 213.55 km/h. Most violations occurred between 1 and 4 AM. Vitézy Dávid emphasized the need for stricter enforcement and public support for average speed monitoring, with 72.2% favoring its introduction. He noted that not all speed violations are equal, advocating for differentiated penalties based on the severity of the offense. Plans are underway to implement average speed monitoring and stricter sanctions for severe speeding.
