In Lebanon, the government intends to regain control of the Palestinian camps

The Lebanese Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, announced consultations to implement a governance plan for Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon, aiming for state authority over these areas. Approximately 200,000 Palestinian refugees reside in twelve camps. The six-month discussions will involve various stakeholders to finalize the plan, which includes disarming Palestinian factions, establishing police posts, and improving infrastructure. Additionally, a draft law to enhance Palestinian refugees' access to the job market is being prepared, pending political consensus. The goal is to extend state authority and improve socio-economic conditions for refugees.
