In Morocco, along the "Donald J. Trump Highway", a showcase of Rabat's ambitions in Western Sahara
The Donald J. Trump Highway, connecting Tiznit to Dakhla, has improved travel conditions for truck drivers, with a new service station in Bounaamane enhancing amenities. Mohammed, a local, expresses satisfaction with the upgraded road, which has transformed the previously narrow and sandy route into a two-lane highway allowing speeds of up to 100 km/h. This expressway, completed in late 2024, has encouraged businesses to use this route to access southern Morocco and Western Sahara, a region claimed by Morocco but contested by the Polisario Front, supported by Algeria, and classified by the UN as a non-self-governing territory.
