In Yemen, the city of Taiz, a symbol of opposition to the Houthis, is under total siege

For over a decade, the residents of Taëz have resisted Houthi forces, which are tightening their grip on the city amid renewed conflict in Yemen. Taëz serves as a crucial link between the northwest and south of Yemen, connecting the central highlands to the Red Sea coast. In early October, the Houthis, backed by Iran, cut off the last major supply route to Aden, leading to the displacement of over 121,000 people. The UN has called for humanitarian corridors to be opened to prevent a human rights catastrophe, but ongoing fighting hinders these efforts. The Yemeni foreign minister stated that the government is ready to facilitate aid delivery.
