Tax audits of the Mozambican extractive sector reveal 137.4 million euros

Mozambique's tax authority reported that audits in the extractive sector uncovered €137.4 million by September 2026, reflecting enhanced oversight and revenue growth. The audits, supported by consultants from TEDI and ATAF, revealed approximately 10.2 billion meticais in tax assessments. Revenue from mega-projects reached 14 billion meticais, with significant contributions from the mining and petroleum sectors. The authority noted an 84% increase in revenue compared to the previous year, driven mainly by the petroleum sector's performance. Additionally, the authority monitored 30 projects across several provinces and reported gains from asset transfers in the extractive industries.
