Increase of 50 euros in the SMN "is not little", says minister
The Minister of Labor, Rosário Palma Ramalho, defended the planned minimum wage increases in Portugal, including a €50 rise in 2027, as significant. She emphasized that this agreement, reached with social partners except for CGTP, would result in a 34% increase in minimum wage by the end of the legislative term. Despite union calls for higher increases due to inflation, business confederations see no justification for altering the current agreement. The minister also addressed pension calculation errors affecting around 3,000 pensioners, stating that resolutions are underway. Additionally, she reiterated the necessity for labor reform to adapt to modern work challenges, including artificial intelligence.
