The National Museum presents drawings made by children who fled to Austria about the revolution of '56.

The Hungarian National Museum commemorates the 70th anniversary of the 1956 revolution with a unique exhibition titled "'56 Children: Drawings from an Innsbruck Student Home." The exhibition, opened on October 22, 2026, showcases the trauma of the revolution and refugee life through the eyes of children. Director Gábor Zsigmond emphasized the importance of children's voices and self-expression. The exhibition features a collection of 29 drawings created by Hungarian high school students who fled after the revolution, highlighting themes of conflict and cultural identity. The collection was preserved by Ruth Anderson and later donated to the museum.
