Austria is also affected by the drought: the Grüner See has become a gravel pit, the Bear Gorge has dried up

The Grüner See, once celebrated as Austria's most beautiful place, has dried up significantly due to extreme drought conditions this year. Mayor Hubert Zinner expressed shock at the lake's transformation from a vibrant emerald green to a barren gravel plain. The drought has also affected local hydroelectric plants along the Laming River, marking an unprecedented situation. The lake, known for its seasonal water level fluctuations, reached a maximum depth of only 3 meters this year. Similarly, the Bear Gorge, a popular tourist destination, has seen a drastic reduction in water flow, leading to visitor complaints and refunds. The drought conditions extend to other areas like the Kesselfallklamm gorge, which has remained dry since spring.
