Author Herman Koch has Parkinson's disease
Dutch author Herman Koch, known for 'The Dinner', revealed he has Parkinson's disease and metastatic prostate cancer. He discussed his health issues on the talk show 'Eva', mentioning balance problems and changes in handwriting. After consulting a neurologist, he received the Parkinson's diagnosis, which he initially sought to rule out. Koch has started medication, reporting improved mental health but ongoing mobility challenges. He also disclosed his prostate cancer diagnosis, kept secret for nearly four years, stating it was initially treatable but later spread. Koch has written about his experiences in his book 'Ga je erover schrijven'.
