Cars and motorcycles, personalized license plates are coming. Here’s how much it will cost

Italy will soon allow personalized license plates for cars and motorcycles, as announced by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. This initiative is part of a budget law approved by the government, enabling vehicle owners to choose custom letters and numbers for their plates. The cost for a personalized car plate will be €600, while motorcycle plates will cost €360. Although the concept of personalized plates has existed since 2002, implementation has been delayed due to the lack of regulatory guidelines. The new regulations are set to take effect on April 1, 2027, with full functionality expected by January 1, 2028, pending further approvals.
