Freight transport, funds unlocked: the race against time begins to request refunds for price increases
The Italian Revenue Agency has introduced tax code 7082 to allow transport companies to claim refunds for increased diesel costs incurred from March to August 2026. This initiative follows discussions between the government and transport associations, led by Transport Minister Matteo Salvini. The extraordinary tax credit, amounting to 480 million euros, covers up to 70% of the additional diesel expenses compared to February prices and is available to registered transport companies with Euro 5 and Euro 6 vehicles. Claims must be submitted via the Agency's online platform by December 31, 2026, using specific procedures to ensure compliance and avoid rejection of the payment.
