The 1956 revolutionaries found refuge in gallows humor at the frontlines
In October 1956, Budapest became a focal point of military power, with crowds and conflict echoing through the streets. Vágvölgyi B. András and Eörsi László created a documentary audio play exploring women's roles during the revolution. They discuss the dynamics of communication among revolutionaries, the presence of women in various capacities, and the influence of Yugoslav partisans. The play, titled "56 Minutes of Freedom," will be presented on Telex from October 23 to 25. The creators emphasize the importance of personal narratives and the unique atmosphere of the time, blending humor and historical reflection.
