Hungarians beyond the borders also paid a heavy price for the stand in 1956

Adrián Szalai highlighted the solidarity shown by Hungarians in Transylvania, Subcarpathia, and Slovakia during the 1956 revolution in Budapest. He mentioned that students in Cluj demanded reforms, while in Nagyszőlős, leaflets were distributed, leading to imprisonment and reprisals for many. Some expressed their solidarity by singing the national anthem, laying wreaths at war memorials, or wearing black armbands. Today, we honor those who felt a connection to the hopes of 1956, even beyond borders.
