They learned from the mice, it works with drones too: the mustached drone can see in the dark

Researchers at Delft University of Technology have developed whisker-like sensors for drones, inspired by the tactile abilities of rats and mice. These sensors allow drones to detect their environment through touch, even in low visibility conditions. Weighing only 3.2 grams and measuring 20 centimeters, the sensors can sense pressure changes when they come into contact with objects. This enables drones to navigate and map unknown areas without visual sensors. While effective in confined spaces, the system has limitations, such as a short range and slower movement requirements. The technology shows promise for research and rescue operations where visibility is compromised.
