The EU would negotiate with the USA on the withdrawal of sanctions against the International Criminal Court

The EU is negotiating with the US to lift sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC), emphasizing that undermining the ICC contradicts European interests and the will of over 120 countries that established it. EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas highlighted that the US sanctions against judges and the prosecutor jeopardize the court's integrity. She called for the US to retract these measures while preparing for potential consequences, including seeking alternative systems for handling cases. Kallas reminded the European Parliament of the historical importance of international courts in holding leaders accountable for atrocities, especially as the ICC faces attacks when its role is most crucial.
