After the EU fine, Temu has prepared a plan against the spread of counterfeit products

The European Commission has approved Temu's action plan to address violations of the Digital Services Act (DSA) after imposing a €200 million fine for inadequate identification of counterfeit products. The plan includes conducting platform-specific risk assessments and implementing reliable metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of measures against counterfeit distribution risks. Temu will also assess the limitations of its content moderation and analyze how its recommendation systems may contribute to counterfeit product dissemination. The company has four months to complete the risk assessment and implement the action plan. The Commission's investigation revealed concerning results from test purchases, with many chargers failing safety standards and some toys containing hazardous chemicals.
