They were used against the Iranian regime, now fake profiles on social media are pushing Netanyahu.
A private surveillance company is allegedly attempting to influence the Israeli elections by promoting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's videos through social media bots. Reports indicate that dozens of accounts, primarily on X, share Netanyahu's content and attack opposition leaders. Some profiles previously supported efforts to overthrow the Iranian regime. A joint submission by the Brandeis Institute and FakeReporter to the Israeli electoral commission identified over 1,000 suspicious accounts linked to these activities. The investigation revealed that AI-driven agents have proliferated in the Israeli online space ahead of the elections, with some accounts previously promoting Reza Pahlavi. The findings suggest a coordinated influence campaign, raising concerns about the integrity of the electoral process.
