The MNB is closing down the Trive Bank that was formed from Sopron Bank
The Hungarian National Bank revoked the operating license of Trive Bank Europe Zrt. and ordered its liquidation, appointing a state liquidator. The bank's capital situation no longer allows for market operations, as it primarily issued small online personal loans. With a loan portfolio under 2 billion HUF, Trive Bank holds a negligible market share, affecting very few borrowers. The number of depositors is below one hundred, and the National Deposit Insurance Fund will compensate insured depositors up to 100,000 euros based on their actual deposits. Trive Bank entered Hungary in 2023 with high hopes after acquiring and rebranding Sopron Bank.
