István Kapitány's departing state secretary also resigned from the MVM's leadership

András Tótth has resigned as chairman of the MVM board, as confirmed by the company. He submitted his resignation on Wednesday. Tótth held dual roles as chairman and deputy state secretary for energy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, from which he resigned on October 13 for personal reasons. Reports suggest there were discussions about the potential resignation of Minister István Kapitány, but he ultimately remained in his position. Tótth was appointed by Kapitány and led the MVM board since July. He previously served as the company's strategic deputy CEO from 2015 to 2017. Tótth is noted for advising against the purchase of the Mátrai Power Plant, a decision that was later reversed politically after his departure.
