The new housing savings plan expects more significant savings for similar support compared to the old one.
The Hungarian government is reintroducing state support for housing savings starting in 2027, with monthly contributions of up to 10,000 HUF in the first five years and 20,000 HUF in the next five. This new scheme aims to provide a maximum state support of 10-20% of savings. The highest support can be achieved with a monthly saving of 100,000 HUF, accessible after five years. Historical data shows that the relative value of state support has decreased significantly since its introduction in 1997, and the new scheme will require higher savings ratios compared to 2018. The expected relative value of support over ten years is projected to average 2.9%.
