"Perhaps the most important investigative committee hearing in modern political history" – live from the parliament, Chief Prosecutor Pál Fürcht
The Hungarian Parliament's Investigative Committee on Executive Abuses has summoned Pál Fürcht, former head of the Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office, for questioning. The committee, established in May, consists of six members, with representation from various political parties. Toroczkai László, the committee's Mi Hazánk president, expressed hope that Fürcht would provide significant information to aid their investigation into the so-called 'executive mafia.' Fürcht's name gained attention after his resignation in June, following his warnings about legal issues regarding the arrest of Ukrainian money couriers. His departure may be linked to internal conflicts within the prosecutor's office, particularly concerning high-profile cases. Following his suspension, Fürcht has been vocal about perceived influences on the prosecutor's work, which aligns with the interests of the ruling party to substantiate allegations against the Orbán government.
