The used car dealer thought he could outsmart the tax authority: a 70 million forint asset freeze was his reward

The National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) has frozen assets worth over 70 million HUF belonging to a used car dealer who attempted to evade VAT regulations. The dealer sold vehicles imported from the EU while concealing their business location to avoid detection. NAV inspectors identified the actual sales location through online car advertisements and rental invoices, supported by EU control data, proving the illegal trading. The dealer caused significant damage to the budget and gained an unfair competitive advantage. To recover the budget loss, NAV seized several high-value vehicles and cash at the hidden location and froze the company's bank account.
